Carol Mills
Benefits Specialist

Carol Mills leads our team of Employee Benefits Specialists at HUB International BENEFITS. She works with companies of all sizes to help tailor competitive benefits plans that suit their needs and are attractive to employees.

Her core areas of expertise include Employee Benefits Plans, Health and Welfare Trusts, Key Man Insurance and Cross-border employees. Carol handles traditional benefits plans including life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, disability, extended health and dental. Her experience also allows her to set up Health and Welfare Trusts and many other high-end products on a stand-alone basis. Carol also has the ability to work with companies who need coverage for their U.S. employees.

She enjoys the challenge of examining a plan and assessing it from every possible angle to deliver solutions that work for your company. Carol has a strong work ethic and dedication to service and like all of us at HUB International BENEFITS places a premium on building relationships with her clients.

In addition to her insurance experience, Carol holds a diploma of Technology for Marketing Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), where she specialized in Professional Sales. She is also a Licensed Life Insurance Broker and holds a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation (CAIB).

Ari Costas
Life & Living Benefits Specialist

Ari Costas is an Account Executive specializing in individual Life and Disability Benefits. Ari joined HUB International in 2007, and has been in the banking and insurance industries since 2002.

His primary areas of expertise include coverage for professionals on an individual basis, such as Key-Person Life Insurance, Disability & Critical Illness coverage, and Buy-Sell Agreement Funding. His experience also includes coverage for business owners in skilled trades.

Ari is recognized for his relationships with Insurance Underwriters, Medical Examiners, and Administrative staff, all of whom are involved in the application process and ensure that his clients will have the best possible experience and underwriting decision. Ari’s strong relationships extend to HUB’s experienced and dedicated professionals in the areas of Commercial & Professional Liability, Directors & Officers Liability, High-Value Home, Auto, and Marine Insurance, all of whom work together to provide the best solutions for our clients.

Brent Heasman
Account Executive

Brent Heasman is an Account Executive with the Employee Benefits Division of HUB International Insurance Brokers.  Brent joined HUB International in 2016, and has over 16 years of experience in the insurance industry in a variety of sales and advisory roles.

Brent’s experience in the benefits industry is extensive, including positions as a Senior Sales Consultant with a large national financial institution and a Regional Manager of sales for a large national individual and group insurance underwriter.

In his position as Account Executive with HUB International, Brent provides clients with advice on their employee benefits programs, and is actively working to enhance the value built into our clients’ benefits programs on an ongoing basis.

Brent is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honors from Wilfrid Laurier University.

With his many years of experience on both the advisory and sales side of insurance, and his dedication to exceptional client service, Brent is a trusted and valuable member of the team at HUB International.

Gordon Penner
Account Executive

Gordon A. Penner is an Account Executive with the Employee Benefits Division of HUB International Insurance Brokers.  Gordon joined HUB International in 2016, and has over 12 years of experience in a variety of management and health and wellness roles.

Prior to joining HUB International, Gordon was a Kinesiologist and Operations Manager responsible for implementing rehabilitation programs, staff training, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

In his position as Account Executive with HUB International, Gordon works with companies of all sizes to find solutions to protect their employees and assets.  Gordon’s background in kinesiology enables him to understand the cost implications of having an injury or keeping healthy, and that a preventative health approach is preferable to a reactive approach

Gordon is a Licenced Life Insurance Professional, holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary and the University of the Fraser Valley, is a TPI Level 2 Fitness Professional, and has taken a number of courses pertaining to operations management, sales training, physio assessment and rehabilitation techniques.  Gordon holds a private pilot license, is an advanced PADI certified scuba diver, and has volunteered his time with a number of YMCA youth programs and youth goalie camps.

With his extensive background in health and wellness, Gordon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his clients, and is valued member of the team at HUB International.

Sean Genest
Account Executive

Sean Genest is an Account Executive with the Employee and Group Benefits Division of HUB International Insurance Brokers.  Sean began his insurance career when he joined HUB International in 2012, bringing with him over 10 years of service and management experience.

Prior to his career in insurance, Sean developed both service and management skills in the hospitality industry, all while obtaining a Marketing Management Diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), where he specialized in Commercial Real Estate.  Upon joining HUB International, Sean was an Auto Insurance Advisor and was consistently recognized as a sales leader.  More recently, Sean trained with HUB’s Business Development Team (BDT) in Chicago, where he worked on a number of call campaigns including one which focused on leveraging HUB’s cross-border capabilities for companies with risks in both Canada and the USA.

As an Account Executive with HUB International, Sean provides clients with life and living benefits.  His areas of expertise include Employee Benefits Plans, Life and Critical Illness Coverage, Disability Insurance, and Long Term Care Coverage.

In addition to his degree from BCIT, Sean is also a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB), a Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS), and a Licensed Life Insurance Broker.

Sean’s strong service and leadership skills, combined with his industry education and dedication to clients, ensure he is a trusted and valuable member of HUB International.

Justin Hauk
Account Executive

Justin Hauk is an Account Executive with the Employee and Group Benefits Division of HUB International Insurance Brokers.  Justin began his insurance career when he joined HUB International in 2012.

Justin joined HUB International as an Auto Insurance Advisor, where he was responsible for providing clients with both new and renewal insurance products and services, and was quickly recognized as a top salesperson within the HUB organization.  In January of 2015, Justin became a Business Development Manager with HUB International’s Business Development Team in Chicago, where he was involved in a number of campaigns focused on leveraging HUB’s expertise and cross-border capabilities.

As an Account Executive with HUB International, Justin provides clients with life and living benefits, including Group Employee Benefits Plans, Life Insurance, Critical Illness Coverage, Disability Insurance, and Long Term Care Coverage.

Justin’s dedication to excellence extends to his education.  He has studied Marketing and Economics at both Douglas College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University, is a Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS), a Licensed Life Insurance Broker, and is currently working toward his Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation.  He is also actively involved in sports and athletics, and played baseball for Douglas College during his time there.

With his strong sales and service skills, Justin is an important and valued member of HUB International.

Pam Henschell
Client Service Representative

Pam Henschell is a Client Service Representative with HUB International BENEFITS. Pam joined the HUB International in 2011, and has over 14 years of experience in the life and health insurance industry.

Pam began her insurance career with a large Canadian Life & Financial company as a Benefits Coordinator and Sales Assistant, where she was involved in sales and marketing for four years. Following her time on the insurer side of the industry, Pam entered the brokerage side of group benefits, first as a Life Insurance New Business Assistant, and later as an Advisor Assistant. In 2006, Pam accepted the position of Senior Client Service Assistant with another large Canadian Life & Financial company, where she gained vast experience in a variety of group products and funding arrangements.

As a Client Service Representative, Pam is responsible for assisting Group Benefits Account Executives with the administration and marketing of group and individual accounts.

In addition to her daily responsibilities, Pam is also dedicated to her education, having obtained a BA in Philosophy and Anthropology from the University of British Columbia (UBC), as well as her Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation from the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) program. She is also actively involved in her community, having organized fundraisers for such non-profit organizations as the Variety Club, Amnesty International, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is currently a World In A Garden community gardener, an organization focused on teaching community gardening and growing food for the Vancouver Food Bank.
